"Electoral participation has steadily declined since 1960 when 88% of registered
voters participated. We seek to reverse this trend through community participation.
We can increase voter turnout with your help." |

| What Does the Adopt-a-Polling Place Program Do? |
The Adopt-a-Polling Place Program is a non-partisan public/private partnership sponsored by the Santa Barbara County Elections Office. The program encourages local organizations to support the voting process by allowing employees to staff a polling place on Election Day. The level of commitment for an individual organization depends on its number of employees. |
| Organizations of all sizes benefit from the Adopt-a-Polling Place Program. Democracy cannot exist without direct citizen participation. This does not end with simply showing up to the polls on Election Day. |
The controversial turn of events in the past presidential election showed how important it is to have responsible, educated polling place workers to assist in facilitating an accurate and error-free election. The Santa Barbara County Elections Office needs more than 1,500 polling place workers for a County-wide election and is facing a drastically declining pool of volunteers for Election Day. Democracy cannot exist without direct citizen participation. |
